Moolenaar, Colleagues Meet with Korean Officials to Discuss Alliance and Indo-Pacific Security Priorities

SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA — Following their trip to Japan, Chairman John Moolenaar (R-MI) of the House Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party, alongside Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA), Rep. Ben Cline (R-VA), Rep. Tom Suozzi (D-NY), Rep. Brian Babin (R-TX), and Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) traveled to the Republic of Korea to express their strong support for the American-Korean alliance and the economic prosperity and security South Korea brings to the Indo-Pacific and to the world.

PRESIDENT YOON: The delegation met with President Yoon to discuss the importance of the US-Korea alliance in the face of authoritarian pressure from China and North Korea.

TRADE MINISTER CHEONG: The delegation met with Trade Minister Cheong In-Kyo to discuss the importance of trade between South Korea and the US, South Korea’s historic investment in the United States, and how our countries can work together to strengthen outbound investment restrictions to China and our critical and emerging technology supply chains.

NATIONAL ASSEMBLY: Chairman Moolenaar and the members also visited Korean legislators at the National Assembly. The members joined Speaker Woo Won-Shik and Representatives Kim Young-bae, Kim Gunn, and Kim Min-ki, among other legislators, to discuss the important economic and security relationship between the two countries.

KITA DINNER: The delegation had dinner with members of the Korean International Trade Association (KITA) to learn more about the thriving South Korean economy.
