MEDIA ADVISORY: Iowa Roundtable on CCP Agricultural Technology Theft

On Thursday, August 3, Chairman Mike Gallagher (R-WI), Ranking Member Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL), and Rep. Ashley Hinson (R-IA), of the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party will host a roundtable event in Dysart, Iowa on the Chinese Communist Party's agricultural technology theft. The event will feature Iowa farmers and stakeholders who will speak to the impacts of the CCP’s malign tactics to undermine American agriculture.

For example, in 2012, a Dysart farmer spotted a man, Mo Hailong, in business attire digging up valuable hybrid seeds, which Mo then sent back to China. The FBI ultimately arrested Mo and six accomplices after they stole $30 million worth of US AgTech.

The Iowa farmers and Select Committee members will discuss the Chinese Communist Party's past and ongoing attempts to steal America's agricultural technology, serving as yet another example of the CCP's tentacles of espionage threatening everyday Americans' livelihoods.
