MEDIA ADVISORY: "Tiananmen at 35" - Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party Holds Press Conference

WASHINGTON D.C. -- The House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party will hold a bipartisan press conference to commemorate the anniversary of the 1989 Tiananmen Square Massacre titled "Tiananmen at 35 - The Ongoing Struggle for Human Rights and Democracy in China" on June 4th at 10:45 a.m., E.T. in Room HVC-201 of the U.S. Capitol Building.

Chairman John Moolenaar (R-MI), Ranking Member Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL), Former Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), Leader Hakeem Jefferies (D-NY), Former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Rep. Andy Barr (R-KY), Rep. Jake Auchincloss (D-MA), Rep. Darin LaHood (R-IL), Rep. Seth Moulton (D-MA), and Rep. Carlos Gimenez (R-FL) will all provide remarks.

At the press conference, lawmakers will commemorate the legacy of Tiananmen Square and highlight the courage of dissidents and pro-democracy activists in China today. Both storied veterans of the Tiananmen Square generation and younger Chinese activists, many of whom are victims of the Chinese Communist Party’s transnational repression, will be in attendance and provide remarks, including: Wei Jingsheng, Wang Dan, Zheng Xuguang, Times Wang, Sophie Shengchun Luo, He Dingxian, and Zhang Jinrui.

When: Tuesday, June 4th, 10:45 - 11:30 a.m. E.T.

Where: HVC-201, U.S. Capitol Building.

The event will be live-streamed on the Select Committee's website and social media.

The event is only open to credentialed members of the media.
