ICYMI: Moolenaar Joins NewsNation to Discuss the CCP's Land Purchases, Flow of Fentanyl, and Authoritarian Alignment

WASHINGTON DC -- In case you missed it, Chairman John Moolenaar (R-MI) of the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party joined NewsNation's Prime over the weekend to discuss the Chinese Communist Party's purchase of land near U.S. military bases (including Chinese company Gotion in Michigan), tax rebates for the export of fentanyl into the U.S., and its authoritarian alignment with Russia, Iran and North Korea. Watch the Chairman's full NewsNation interview HERE, read the full transcript HERE and see key moments below:
Moolenaar on the threat of companies with ties to the CCP, like Gotion in Michigan, buying land and conducting espionage near U.S. military bases: "We've seen hundreds of incidents of gate-crashing at military bases from foreign nationals, many of them Chinese, and they put leverage on people based in America to do spying for China, and to carry out the will of the Chinese Communist Party. They use the leverage they have on family members and others in the home country. And so it is a huge concern – we've seen this happen in North Dakota, and fortunately, our military shut that down, but it is continuing to happen in other areas, and we need to be vigilant. Fortunately, there is a process, the Committee on Foreign Investment in the US that has jurisdiction now over [the Gotion project], and my hope is that they will come back with a report that says this is not the place for a Chinese based plan."
Moolenaar on how the CCP facilitates the flow of fentanyl into the U.S.: "We do know that China is manufacturing the precursor chemicals, the ingredients if you will, that is poisoning hundreds of thousands of Americans. And they manufacture these chemicals – they partner with the drug cartels in Mexico and then bring it across our Southern border. And we need to step up and address this head on, because not only are they turning a blind eye to the manufacturing of these drugs, they are actually subsidizing it through their tax policy, giving rebates to chemical companies not to sell it in China, but to export it to countries like the United States... [The Select Committee] did a deep dive investigation, and from actual sources in China – websites, Mandarin language websites – we found that the Chinese tax policy actually gives these tax rebates to chemical companies – around 200 companies are involved in this – and they partner with the Mexican drug cartel[s]. So it wasn't simply that it's organized crime, this is actually a government sponsored program to manufacture these drugs and get them to North America."
Moolenaar on the CCP's authoritarian alignment against the U.S. and the Western World: "[China and Russia] described their relationship as a 'no limits partnership'. And that is a huge concern. China's funding Russia's war in Ukraine... [and] they had Hamas come and visit China recently. So you look at these partnerships between China, Russia, North Korea, and Iran, that's very troubling. We need to be promoting America – peace through strength." |
