Moolenaar Meets with India's Ambassador to the United States

Today, Select Committee on China Chairman John Moolenaar (R-MI) met with Vinay Kwatra, India’s ambassador to the United States. They discussed the importance of the U.S.-India relationship, regional security, manufacturing and trade, and efforts to shift critical manufacturing from China to India. They also discussed the security partnership between the U.S., India, Australia, and Japan – commonly referred to as the Quad – and efforts to counter the Chinese Communist Party’s expansionist ambitions.
“India is the world’s largest democracy and an essential partner for global stability. It has experienced CCP aggression firsthand and is a major U.S. security partner with an increasingly close defense industrial relationship that helps protect the American people. India is also a global leader in countering malign CCP-directed technology and social media companies because it recognizes that it cannot be a free and secure nation if it allows the CCP to manipulate and control information to its people. Today’s meeting with Ambassador Kwatra reaffirmed the U.S.-India strategic partnership and I am hopeful our two countries will continue to build an even stronger friendship grounded in common values," said Chairman Moolenaar.
In 2020, India banned TikTok, WeChat and 57 other CCP-controlled apps.
