Since Hamas terrorists massacred Israeli civilians on October 7th, America's elite universities have become cesspools of antisemitism, fostering open attacks against Jewish students.

Despite the proliferation of so-called “safe spaces” on campuses, our universities have been growing more perilous for certain students who find themselves ideologically at odds with the faculty and administration – not just Jewish students but also overseas Chinese students who speak out against Beijing.

I’ve talked to dozens of students across the country who told me our colleges are looking the other way at the Chinese Communist Party’s repression of overseas Chinese students who dare to criticize the regime.

Some Chinese Student and Scholars Associations, with ties to Chinese consulates, track, surveil, and report on any dissident activity.

American college campuses should be a place for free discussion, free debate, not a place where people can threaten to hurt or violently assault Jewish, or Chinese students.

But instead, the same university faculty and students who are talking about Israel as a colonizer or deny speakers of opposing political views – like here at Berkeley – have no qualms about their universities working with the Chinese government to perfect technologies that enhance the CCP’s repressive capacity at home and accelerate its military modernization for offensive purposes abroad.

Somehow the dichotomy of the oppressor and oppressed does not extend to the victims of far-left regimes like the Chinese Communist Party that donates handsome gifts to universities like Berkeley.

American universities have a problem bigger than posters or protests – a problem that goes to the moral and intellectual integrity of our higher education system.

University administrators must decide: Will their campuses be a haven from persecution or become a hunting ground for authoritarians?
