Fentanyl costs thousands of American lives every year, destroying entire communities.

I have seen the devastation Fentanyl has wrought, from my home state of Wisconsin to the streets here in San Francisco. This city’s Golden Gate Bridge once symbolized the potential of our nation. Now it is a monument to our government’s failure to stop the importation of endless streams of deadly chemicals.

Here’s the thing.  Fentanyl precursors are produced in China and then shipped to Mexico, straight into the hands of the cartels. And it's not just a matter of crossing the southern border, there are PRC entities that launder money for drug trafficking organizations to underwrite the whole process.

All of this is happening right under the nose of the Chinese Communist Party.

While the supply chain for illicit fentanyl is complex, it is estimated that 97 percent of fentanyl in the United States is manufactured using precursor chemicals from China.

Precursor chemicals are the basis for illicit fentanyl, and can be synthesized, pressed into pill form, and trafficked through our Southern border to towns across the country.

Our primary long-term adversary is profiting off the poisoning of America’s youth.

The CCP sentences drug traffickers to death domestically, while pretending it can do nothing to introduce restrictions on chemical shipments to the United States.

Meanwhile, in the first three months of fiscal year 2023 alone, CBP seized over 9,000 pounds of fentanyl coming across the Southwest border—Enough to kill over 2.1 billion people or over 6.4 times the U.S. population.

It’s an outrageous situation.

We must hold the CCP accountable.
